Around 0700 hours this morning, Ladder 65 was dispatched to 5200 Hilltop Drive in Brookhaven for a townhouse fire. Quint 52 arrived in scene with a 2 story middle of the row townhouse with smoke showing. Crews from 52 located a fire in the laundry room and extinguished the fire. The crew from the ladder assisted with checking for extension and ventilation. As the Ladder was restoring from the first fire, the box was dispatched to 900 block of Chestnut Street in Trainer Borough for a house fire with entrapment. Ladder 65 was quickly on the street with 5 personnel. Engine 17 arrived as the first due engine company and reported a single story cape cod with fire showing from the alpha side and reported all occupants accounted for. Ladder 65 arrived as the second due truck co. Due to the house being under construction and numerous holes in the floor, command ordered defensive operations only. Crews worked for about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. Ladder 65 operated on scene for about 2 hours. You guys certainly had a busy day. Heard the alarm go off at 4:30 and then again around 8 pm.
Just before 1700 hours today, Ladder 65 was dispatched on the 2nd alarm to assist Chester City. City units were in scene with a 2 story twin with fire showing from the second floor. The Ladder placed some ladders and stood by in the manpower pool. The second alarm was released within an hour. As the ladder was returning to the station, the assignment was dispatched to the unit block of Rose Valley Rd for a residential fire alarm. Chief 65 arrived on scene with nothing evident from the alpha side. After further investigation, a smoke condition was found on division 2 of the house. The crew from the ladder located a small smoldering fire in a second floor bedroom. The fire was extinguished with minimal damage. Around 2000 hours on Sunday, the assignment was dispatched to the 100 block of South Chester Road for the apartment fire. Ladder 65 was quickly on the street with 8 personnel. Engine 14 arrived and reported a 6 story apartment building with nothing evident from the alpha and delta sides. Ladder 65 arrived as the first due truck company and made entry with engine 14s crew. As units made their way to the second floor, they found the hallway charged with smoke. Entry was made into the reported apartment and located an oven fire with minimal extension. COMMUNITY CLEANUP DAY on OCTOBER 29
For Monday’s Community Clean Up Day, an H&H Disposal Truck will be collecting heavy trash at the Public Works Department. Additionally, a Public Works Department truck will be collecting heavy trash at South Media Fire Company and at Hepford Park. Trash should not be dropped off in advance of 8 AM or after 4 PM. Just after 1400 hours, the assignment was dispatched to the Trimble Run Condos in Brookhaven for a building fire. Ladder 65 was clearing from a call on Chester Road and was quickly on the street. The PD were first to arrive and reported smoke showing. Quint 52 arrived next and now had fire showing from the alpha side. Ladder 65 arrived and positioned in the lower lot and placed the aerial to the roof. Crews went to roof to vertically ventilate.
